I am a free lance writer living in Bozeman, Montana. I have two wonderful girls and a loving, supportive husband with whom I travel, ski, surf and navigate the ups and downs of life. I write because I have to. Inside me are many stories -- stories of who I am and how I got to this place, stories of what makes me sing and what makes me cry. I hope you are enjoying my website.

Reflections on Ferguson, Missouri 2014

I am Gail Gettler and I am a freelance writer living in Bozeman, Montana. Last year, my family and I moved to Tanzania, East Africa where we explored life in a culture very different from ours.

Along the way we made life-long friends, spent hours in the bush with wildlife and we came home to Bozeman with a new passion – to remain a part of the world that opened our eyes and hearts in new ways. The essays and photos that are a product of our travels are here on this website.

Our adventure also resulted in a new job for me. When I am not writing essays these days, I am learning what it means to be the Development Director of The Plaster House in Arusha, Tanzania. My daughter, Anna Eby, and I volunteered there for a month and our lives were changed forever. This job presents many challenges. I am looking skyward at a steep learning curve. I swore years ago that I could never ask anyone for money. I guess I hadn’t found the right cause.
